It’s time for new holiday music!

I am really excited about a new Christmas CD that I’m a part of called More Than a Season, which features songs from various New Thought/Positive music artists, including Karen Drucker, Faith Rivera, Richard Mekdeci, Jana Stanfield, JD Martin, Jan Garrett, Robert Anderson, Sloan Wainwright, Sue Riley, Glen Roethel and Kelly Corsino.

We worked on the CD this past May when we were all at a songwriting retreat in Phoenix, AZ, (because nothing says holidays songs like May in Arizona!) at the wonderful home of a New Thought music fan and supporter, Jodi Floyd.

Being a part of the writing retreat was a wonderful experience for me. Not only did we get to stay in paradise, but I got to be with, AND write with, some of my favorite songwriters. Each experience was different of course, but each one so fun and soul satisfying.

I ended up co-writing three songs on the album: "Last Christmas Eve," "Shortest Day, Longest Night" and "From the Bottom Up." Here's a little big more about each of the songs:

Last Christmas Eve
This song, which I co-wrote with JD Martin, was such a surprise. It reminded me that you can think you’re going to write about one thing, and something else takes over and emerges. Once JD started playing the piano, my heart opened up and feelings came. I love the song we wrote together. I sang this one on the album.

Shortest Day, Longest Night

I co-wrote this song with Robert Anderson, and the song had such a lovely vibe. Robert’s a Gemini, and they are such lightning thinkers with a command of the language that it seemed to come easily as long as we kept it simple. One lyric line followed the next easily and effortlessly, like a scene from one of those old movies where the songwriters suddenly come upon an idea. I love when that happens.

From the Bottom Up
Writing this song Sue Riley and Glen Roethel was so much fun! As evidenced in the track! I remember it becoming an earworm that I could not get it out of my head! (Which, as we know, is a really good sign). I think it’s a great New Year's song, full of hope and joy. And that it would make a great jingle for Folgers. Just sayin’.

I am especially proud and honored to be featured with these artists on this record, and I think the three songs are some of my best work.

This one-of-a-kind CD is a joyous celebration of this special time of year that I'm sure is destined to be a holiday classic. It would make the perfect gift for anyone on your shopping list!

To order a copy, please visit Empowerma.com, where you can get a hard copy or a digital download. Or purchase a copy of the CD from me at one of my upcoming shows. Merry Christmas!
